I {Heart} Adoption

Not flesh of my flesh, nor bone of my bone,
but still miraculously my own.
Never forget for a single minute,
you didn't grow under my heart,
but in it.

After wanting children and being unable to conceive, the hubs and I were blessed through foster adoption with our little guy.  The process is not fun and not for the faint of heart, but we were fortunate.  Foster care is a wonderful gift: it provides loving homes for children in need and in transition.  However, if trying to adopt through foster care there is no guarantee that the children you love and care for will be your forever family.  Our story is not typical and we were blessed.  David was our first and only placement and he is our forever family!

David came into our home when he was 4 months old.  It took 20 months and 1 week from the moment we first held him until he took our last name.  Our adoption day was a double celebration because it was also David's 2nd birthday.

Everyday is an adventure now that he is a toddler.  I am very thankful for God's timing and His plans in creating our family.
