Where Did You Find That?

This is pretty hard evidence that my housekeeping habits may leave a lot to be desired. I have a cleaning lady that comes every other week and I pick up and do light cleaning in between. (I use the term "light cleaning" loosely here). Apparently, though, some things must go unnoticed during my light cleanings. I was sitting on the couch flipping channels and David was playing in on the floor. I did not notice where he got the sippy cup from but I watched as he took a drink from it. The look on his face after swallowing his big gulp said it all. It was clear that whatever substance was inside the cup was not fresh.

About 20-30 minutes later, I see David drinking from another sippy cup. Again, being unsure as to where he got the cup, this time I stopped him before he got cup to lips. I didn't even have to open the lid to know we had another "liquid surprise" on our hands. This time it was apple juice. Correction, I think after the fermentation it was apple wine.

My guess is that milk and juice were at least 3-5 days old. I just went ahead and threw both cups away. I don't think there would be enough soap to get those clean. I may need to start cleaning on my hands and knees or employ a midget housekeeper. `

  1. I have been there. I am glad my youngest is off the bottle now- we have found some really fun surprises in those bottles. Some weeks old. I just used those times as teaching moments- the kids about fermentation or mold- for me- to look under the beds when I clean.
