Blueprints for Life

Plans? Did someone mention plans? What kind of plans would you like? Take your pick...I have lesson plans, game plans, financial plans, emergency evacuation plans, floor plans, plans for the weekend, plans for next week, plans with friends, dinner plans, party plans, travel plans, data plans, wireless plans, plans to shop, plans to save, plans to not make plans, and a plan to have a plan. I make a lot of plans, I break some plans, and sometimes I wish I had a plan.

Nevertheless, whether I'm planned or unplanned, my God, in His infinite wisdom has plans for me. Of course, at times, in my infinite lack of wisdom, I forget all about His plans. And God does not often consult my planner when making His plans. For example, there are some things I never planned...I never planned to be a teacher. I never planned to live in Yuma, AZ. I never planned to not be able to conceive my own child. In all these plans, there was a purpose. His Purpose. There are times when I am able to recognize His Purpose: my career choice led me to my husband and to Yuma where I have been priviliged to be David's mother. And times when I hope that I learn His Purpose someday. However, I can always rest easy knowing that God has a plan, a good and perfect plan.

I have many plans for my life. I look at my son and make my own plans for his life (unbeknownst to him). What's better is that God has many plans for me, Andrew, and little David. For now, I am planning to remember that my plans don't really count, but God's do.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

  1. Amen. I am an excessive planner as well. I find that God's plans are so much better than mine!

  2. "We make plans, and God laughs." a quote from my pediatrician when he found out I was pregnant with number three when number 2 was 6 months old.

I do wish you lived closer, though. When are you coming out this way?
