David Day

Today is "David Day". It was 2 years ago this very day, February 21, that we brought our precious little boy home. It was a Thursday, I was finishing up my day at school and Andrew was wrapping up his day at work. We spoke on the phone and were making plans to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner. Moments later Andrew called back saying we got a call from CPS for a baby. We had little information except that if we wanted the placement we needed to bring an infant car seat to the CPS office right away. Getting their was a blur. I don't even really remember leaving school, getting the car seat or driving to the CPS office. But it was like everything stood still when a CPS worker carried David into the room where we were waiting. He was wide-eyed, dirty, smelled of old formula, had cradle crap over two-thirds of his scalp, and was wearing pajamas that were too small. None of that mattered when I took that precious little 4 month old baby into my arms. Legally he wouldn't be our son until 20 months later, but at that moment he was in our hearts forever. That day changed our lives and we will never be the same. Thank God!

  2. This gets me all choked up. I remember seeing you and Andrew with him at church after you first got him. His big blue eyes stood out so much. Praise God for giving little David his mommy and daddy.

  3. So cute! I love that story. I gave birth to my daughter only two days before that day, it is like we had babies at the same time! How exciting and great. We have been looking into fostering, we looked at Kidspeace so far. Any advice?

You guys are the cutest family!! :)
