Unorganized Living

I was telling a friend the other day that I feel like I'm on the brink of being featured on the reality TV show "Hoarders". Of course I was being a bit dramatic. I don't have truckloads of trash and stuff that I'll never use lying around and I can certainly walk around my home without dodging stacks and stepping over piles. It's just that I have become unwittingly aware of the amount of stuff that I have that is unorganized.

My goal for this summer was to get my home organized. It was a well intentioned plan that was foiled by vacations, pool time, and float downs. Now summer's end is quickly approaching and I must get down to business. I would just hate myself if I started school without having accomplished this task, daunting as it may seem.

I have slowly and reluctantly begun my magnum opus by getting the the hall closet, desk, and storage bench cleaned out last week. I am quickly accumulating things to be donated to Precious Treasures. Next on the list are the bathroom cupboards and my room. The final and most horrific task will be to clean out and organize the 2nd bedroom. This is where I have an entire closet dedicated to craft supplies, most of which I haven't used.

My ultimate goal for this purging and systematizing of my home is to have less stuff, the existing stuff to be organized, and to have a permanent space for sewing.

I have started, but I still have quite the job ahead of me. Wish me luck!

  1. More power to you sister- good luck with that Craft Room. I had to give up my craft room in Vegas when Sam came along, and now that we are back to a 5 bedroom house I have room for all that stuff again- but still haven't touched any of it in several years. I just can't bring myself to part with the bins and bins of fabric, scrapbooking supplies, and painting accessories that I spent tons of money and time collecting!
